Okemo?

Chasing the snow this weekend so heading up to Okemo, VT.

I guy I work with who both skis and rides has recommended it highly, so off i go.

I don't do park and am just beginning to feel like I am not getting in people's way on blacks.

Will be riding Sunday and Monday.

Any advice/suggestions on Okemo?

Head to the far left and right of the mountain - stay off the "center" (where the main lodge is).

I've always found that no matter what, the main area is always way crowded and the far left/right areas (forget the names...) have minimal lift lines.

tuckered out, the big blue on the right side of jacksons gore, is a fun one with lots of freshies.

+1 to staying to the sides.

As soon as you get there get up and out of the base area. Unfortunately that requires you take one of the little lifts at the bottom (it's really not a great lift setup at the base but once you are out of there it's ok). Head to Northstar Quad and get a run or two off of that lift before it gets crowded, I really like world cup for bombing down. Then as others have said either head to the left or to the right. I like the south face express area, Solitude and Jackson gore can be fun too. If it's crowded the Green ridge tripple chair is a slower ride but there is usually no one on it. Should be good snow this wknd. Have fun......I'll be at Bromley/Magic Saturday/Sunday

I'm taking a bus trip from Emilio's in Queens on Saturday. Never been to Okemo but I'm stoked for the pow!

I took the liberty of trying to construct a little crude display to show you the least and most crowded areas, imo. Others feel free to speak on weather you agree or not

Green - Least
Yellow - Moderate
Red - Most

*edit* The blank area between the green circle on left and red I should have circled as yellow

Quickest way to Jackson Gore side (follow the blue line)

Soul -- you are insane. And I love you for it! :10:

Your maps printed. If I can figure out how to post 'em, pics from the weekend when I get back.

Definitely get over to the South face (far left on the map). The trails there are great in fresh snow. Upper Wild Thing is a personal favorite, and the glades over there (Stump Jumper and Loose Spruce I think) should be great in the expected conditions.
Also check out Jackson Gore (far right on the map), that whole part of the mountain was made for powder.

I'd agree with this. I personally like to park at Jackson Gore and head to Solitude to warm up. Nice easy cruisers to get loose there. Then head over to the south face for some fun.

I havent been there in a while, but I remember really liking Jolly Green Giant and some other chill run... I think it was a blue that had a lot of fun turns along a bunch of cabins/houses, I cant remember the name.

Have fun though I really like Okemo, I should have got a season pass there instead of Killington this year.

Jolly Green Giant has a nice view:
