Cool Mt Snow

Just booked a bus trip to mt snow for sunday (thanks NYC meetup thread for the idea)

i was there before christmas and they didnt have much open, hopefully this storm really dumps. what are some of your favorite parts of the mountain to ride? i definitely want to check out the north face and see how my Pocono talents hold up on a real slope. also i noticed the trail map doesnt have glades marked...what do you guys recommend for trees?

if anyone else is headed up feel free to hit me up, i'm taking the ovrride bus

I usually dip in to the trees off to the left of Olympic on the North Face.

My Saturday trip to Okemo was cancelled so I rebooked an Emilio's bus for Mt Snow on Sunday as well.

I've never been to Mt Snow so I'll take any hints I can get. I just checked out the trail map and was shocked at the lack of black diamond runs. I imagine I'll be on the North Face most of the day.

I wish I read this sooner. I had the opportunity to either go to kilington or mt snow. Ive never been to either. My friends always stayed at Okemo.

I was actually pretty surprised how mellow most of the mountain was. The North Face was icy as FUCK though. Took a nasty spill around noon on what looked like an ice river on my first run on the North Face. Rocked my head (with helmet) and tail bone pretty hard. Couldn't stop myself and kept banging my legs/hips on the icy rocks as I fell Shook my confidence for awhile.

All of the blues on the main face turned soft and moguly (is that a word) later in the day which was nice.

I was on the override bus from nyc to mt snow on Sunday. I totally agree with you the whole north face being icy as "FUCK". I spoke with a Mt Snow instructor on the lift and she explained they had 60mph winds on Saturday. There were HUGE ICE SPOTS! Not to be a snow snob but I dont ski snowboard in these types of conditions but i already woke up at 4.30am. Im glad someone agrees with me. The whole bus thought the conditions were just the best ever! Oh well! Im a snow snob.

I was on the bus too. Got on at the Blades West stop with my younger brother. We stayed on the main face all day as it was only his second time riding. I ended up playing more of an instructor to him for the day but I still had a GREAT time. Snow was moguled from all the people chopping it up BUT it was still nice and soft. I loved it.
However had I not already had my Saturday trip to Stratton switched to Mt Snow I would have definitely jumped on the opportunity to jump on the Killy day trip

I may have been on the same bus as you riding to the mountain. I got on at Emilios/Queens though.

If you stuck to the main area on the front side of the mountain things weren't that bad.

Maybe I'm showing my snow snobbiness as well but I was felt the day was pretty average overall. They definitely need another huge dump for it to be a worthwhile trip. Meanwhile, they're getting a wintry mix right now.

The North Face was wayy too icy. The only run that was decent was Olympic on the far left. Everything else had spots where it was nothing but ice for 20-30 feet leading directly into a mogul field. The rest of the mountain was in pretty good shape, especially early.

I was disappointed with ovrride. I emailed them early on Saturday to ask if I could cancel or reschedule because i woke up with a cold and felt like shit and they said it was too late and they would charge me the whole bus ticket price and only give me a partial refund on the lift ticket. normally i'd accept that policy but when they were on twitter all day talking about how big the waiting list was and how they were trying to add more buses because so many people wanted to go, I thought it was fucked up they were still going to charge me knowing they would fill my spot instantly so fuck em, i won't ever use ovrride again...a free muffin and a beer doesn't make up for that
