Anyone done Jay Peak from NYC? Is it worth the long drive? For the drive time I could fly out west somewhere

Got really lucky being at Jay on a SERIOUS pow day. It was incredible. Trees unlike anything I've seen. Definitely worth it but confirm the conditions don't gamble. I can see Jay being quite unenjoyable in icy conditions.

For Jay, try to go up for a 2 day trip. Ride Jay 1-2 days and hit Smuggs on the way home. The drive is quite long and is kind of a waste unless you spend a couple of days there.

Jay was really good because they get so much snow! Went up the tram and had a nice powder run all the way down and it felt like it took forever!

Luckily, they get an average yearly accumulation of over 300".

I rode there Saturday and had great conditions from 9am till around 1, where all the nice groomed snow started to get pushed down and the ice came out.

It rained yesterday afternoon and temps were in the 40's. And then cooled off and the slush froze over. What did you expect?

Hunter is a great place on powder days. I went last year on an evening they got dumped on. Stayed the night and awoke to 10" of new snow and got to lay fresh lines up until the afternoon.

Cheers, thanks for the advice. I'll try make it up on a weekend when there's good snow
