I got an email with a similar pic Friday night. I'm hoping for a Jan/Feb trip too.

Have you been to Jay since their big re-do? Holy crap! Nicer than anything I've seen out west even. Beautiful resort, and they've even carved some more glades. Cool thing is, the base is crowded because of the water park and skating rink and other things to do, so it keeps people off the mountain. There is a whole new lodge/hotel at Stateside, and three good restaurants right in the main hotel. It's incredible...and it ought to be after driving five-seven hours from Southern New England. But the mountain is still the best. Can't wait to go back!

I've been there for 1 weekend in January each of the last 2 years. Had a blast in the glades last year. Love the updates and you're right, the mountain never seems too crowded.

They have been offering some great deals on the new Stateside hotel. Some friends and I have been thinking about taking that on. We stayed at the Tram lodge last year. It was pretty nice and you can't beat the location.

BWHAHA! It's always too cold at Jay! The only place I've ever been where we had pre-paid vouchers and still said "Fuck it! Not worth it!" -5 with 30mph winds. But man, when Jay is ON, there is no place better!

In all the times I've been there, we almost always park at Stateside (which now has a new lodge/hotel), but I've never ridden The Jet. Not sure why, other than that the last couple of trips have been horrible conditions. The last time I got a full day at Jay Peak was probably five years ago, and my wife was a beginning skier, so we didn't do that side. Jay is kind of like out west in that they don't do double-diamonds. They figure you're either an expert or you're not, so some of the trails marked as single diamonds are actually pretty hairy. But we've already booked a five-day trip at the end of January, and I'm doing the Jet first, dammit! Then the glades. God, I love that place!

BTW, we're bringing the passports...it's an easy drive to Sutton in Canada. Beautiful little town, and the mountain is actually pretty cool. We checked it out last year, but didn't have gear with us (and I was still recovering from foot surgery) so we couldn't ride. But it's got a great layout, and it's totally French...you feel like you're in another country (well, I guess you are!). Jay Peak used to be like that until they went all resorty. Now it's mostly Americans.

Yes I am dying to get out there. May go in Feb. Thinking about staying at Grampa Grunts. Thoughts?
