Last weekend it snowed 40 inches at Mt. Bachelor. Not only was it surreal to have deep snow in October, but to make turns for the second time ever on my bday, I was stoked! Wifey leading the way by Ves, on Flickr
Tonight
Snow. Low around 28. South wind 10 to 17 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
Monday
Snow showers, mainly before 4pm. High near 32. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible
For Monday we will be in normal midweek operation out of the White Salmon Base Area with chairs 3,4,5,6,7,8 .... We have fantastic snow coverage with some of the best opening week conditions we have ever seen!
In daily operation with a snow base of 60+ inches at Heather Meadows - the deepest base in the U.S.!
 It will be day 1, mid week, ridin by myself...despite straight from nightshift
Went out to Baker today and had a ton of fun despite being super rusty and managing to get turned around several times. A little icy in the morning but it was snowing all day. Ended up accidentally getting stuck in a little patch of ungroomed snow below a trail map sign and had a hell of a time getting out sinking past my knees for about a 10' stretch or so (I wasn't the only one to get stuck at least). Essentially no lift lines all day too.
I'll have to go back later in the season when I'm in better shape and not as rusty.

thats when you swim or paddle out...just lay down on your board like paddling a surf board ... but its really a matter of choosing your lines wisely, having enough slope and enough speed and don't biff or its swimming time.
So nobody else besides me wants to brag about how good it's been? I'm disappointed I wanna see some pow porn. @neni here's a honey hole that always collects
Aaaaa, that's awesome! Thanks for this, made me leave the office with a wide grin (and a well meant swear on the lips)
Hope it'll be equally good in March! Over here, winter hasn't startet yet . No snow in sight.
I was going to head up to Steven's yesterday, but found out all the lots were full, and LONG waits for parking lot shuttles. Is Steven's always that packed? Or just a perfect storm of first non-holiday weekend, huge snowfall, and the next closest resort (Snoqualmie) being closed?
i'm usually on the road from seattle by 6:30, 7 at the latest. You want to be there around 8-8:30am to guarantee a spot. That is what you get on the first day the backside opens.
Pacific Northwest: We just returned from Crystal Mountain who nabbed 25 inches of nearly blower pow last Sunday. Most of the PNW scored big time including Stevens Pass, Snowqualmie Pass, Alpental who all have opened up new terrain and are sitting at nearly mid winter conditions currently. The next systems come in from the south raising snow levels somewhat and will drop several feet of snow to many areas. We like Oregon the best currently especially Thursday PM and Friday AM where snow and wind will quickly rise avalanche danger (1-2 feet). The southern and central Washington Cascades will take our 2nd spot especially this weekend as additional moisture pushes up from Oregon (Crystal, Stevens, Interstate 90 could become players). My picks for the weekend could include any of the Oregon resorts and including most of southern or central Washington (Decently cold event with some warming). “Some areas will be very deep especially in the southern areas of the Pacific Northwest through the weekend.”
idk but looking at the noaa forecast on the same holyland coordinates...on the desktop says about 36" possible through this weekend and on pad says 66" possible for the same timeframe...Not complaining either way... maybe there is a multidimensional glitch/twitch thing happening
going up the mount today...to check it out...
though it looks like you all south of here are getting hammered....have fun, watch out for those tree wells...be safe out there on the perimeter
Here's a video I took of the race course today. My two friends got matched up and this was their race. I made my first heat but lost in the second round. Day started with a foot of fresh, then the race.
No, you are not the only one. These PNW people are having tons of fun up there.
