Suggestions for the 18th and 20th in Seattle.

Hey,

I'm working at SEA-TAC on the 19th and will have a few days off to ride. The Weather Service forecast looks promising later next week. I've made (tentative) plans for Baker on Tuesday the 20th and will probably stay up in Bellingham to cut the drive.

Any suggestions for Sunday the 18th? Thinking Snoqualmie, Steven's, or Crystal, but I don't know which has the least potential for crowds on a weekend. Not interested in park.

Any advice is welcome. TIA.

i always liked stevens because their night riding is good, snoqualmie kind of sucks unless there is lot of snow, never been to crystal. baker is my favorite, just a much cooler place. cant wait to go home in january

Crystal is legit, but only when there is fresh snow. If the weather doesn't provide a dump of any kind before you get here, then I would suggest Stevens or Snoqualmie. They both have pretty good groomers. You will not want to venture off of them though if we don't get some snow soon.

I would say stevens if its during mid week, weekends there are packed. Crystal is another nice one, go to crystal.

If it dumps, 2 days at Baker. More than enough stuff to keep you busy, and shortest lines on the weekends

Appreciate the feedback. Aside from a 2-day powder pilgrimage to Baker if it's dumping, are Stevens, Snoqualmie, and Crystal all pretty much weekend shitshows for crowds? Should I plan on Baker on Sunday and hit up one of the others on a weekday instead?

Those places will be crowded on the weekends. If there was snow I would suggest running over to Mission but they have a limited opening with a run or two of machine made snow. If you can do an overnight maybe check out the conditions at White Pass. It's a drive but it is less crowded on weekends, you can get a room in Pachwood usually under $100.

If you are limited to day trips, unless there is fresh snow I prefer Stevens. I think they do a better job of grooming. Crystal has a ton of terrain but if there isn't fresh snow I don't think their groomed runs are as nice plus there are lots of cat tracks and flat spots that are fine for skiers but not as much fun for boarders.

Snoqualmie is lower elevation and less than an hour from 2 million people. Runs are short, except some stuff at Alpental which is great for steeps when there is a good dump.

It doesn't look good for a while...certianly no pow pilgrimage, maybe 2-4 inches tonight and tomarrow...dust on ice and later its warming up...so be prepared for riding ice in the rain.

Forecast looks similar for both Stevens and Baker... rain Sat night, more of a mix predicted up north. Well, I'll take what I can get... back here in NY, I just did a 5-ish hr r/t on Wednesday to Gore for 10 trails of man-made that were like grooved ice until 10:30, then turned into brown rutted mush.

I still plan to hit Baker on Sunday and Stevens on Tuesday. I'll be wearing blue 686 pants, white/gray Columbia parka, and a white smith maze helmet if anyone wants to say hello.

Skip Baker, go straight to Stevens. I live in Bellingham and don't go to Baker. And if it might be raining, it's more reason to avoid Baker, as if it's raining at Baker it's snowing at Stevens.
