Default Crystal or Baker this Thursday?

Looks like Baker is getting dumped on and tomorrow will be epic.

Unfortunately our schedules don't allow us to go until Thursday.

Would you drive the extra 1+hour each way to Baker or go to Crystal on what will most likely be a sunny groomer day on Thursday?

Crystal expected to get 3-5 today, then nothing. Baker 12-20 today/tonight and not much after that.

Baker for sure...I'd go to Stevens before Crystal this season.

Kind of what I was thinking. Stevens and Mission are our regular hills but my GF wants to go someplace different for her bday. I've only been to Baker once and it was a sheet of ice top to bottom all day so my memory wasn't too great.

It looks like they've been getting dumped on.

How long does it hold up mid-week? If they get the foot to foot and half tonight will any of that be left by Thursday or will it be tracked off-piste and groomers?

Baker is mostly tracked out inbounds by the end of the day. still worth it with all the fresh snow though, it wont be icy and they might get the park built

Aaahhh Baker is not getting dumped on and it will not be epic...too warm = wet and heavy. Bake's easy goods will be tracked by 10:30-11 by resident mobsters...today and will be chopped wet and heavy inbounds and the locals will start in on the easy bc good this afternoon. By Thurs harder/stiffer chop and heavy with packed icy....plan on getting bucked around. Groomers will be ok. If temps get up to the forecasted 36 early it might loosen up a bit but morning will be hard and packed. Though possible to get a few patches of untracked goods if ya know where to look. If it is a half way decent day with no new dumping, baker locals can and will rip the shit out of this small hill...if you don't have your favorite lines ripped in 3-4 laps you are not going to get it and a tourist will not know where to continue to get the goods. On a good epic day its an animal shit show...pretty god damm fun. Just realize today its mid week, minimal tourist so its resident local bum/employee/instructor rip day.

Just sayin Thurs...not epically baaaad...but not certianly epic good...more of a groomer day...and I'd imagine the rest of north cascades will be similar.

Stevens is super packed, crystal is definitely a weekday trip cus that parking lot on weekends is a nightmare. Baker is always money, they always have them canyons closed though. The only thing i hate about baker is that dam two lane highway to the mountain, it can take as long as the drive from seattle to belly.

Seems like everything is a weekday trip these days. Can't imagine what a zoo Crystal would be on the weekends, Stevens is bad enough.

FWIW we went to Crystal, drive to Baker just didn't seem worth it. Found some powder stashes and the groomers were nice until lunchtime when it turned Spring-like and sticky. Drinks at the Snorting Elk always fun. Still would like to hit Baker this year on a weekday when they get some fresh snow.

After not making it up there last year, we made it up Sunday when they had 5 inches overnight. Never seen a mountain get scraped clean so quickly! Got 2-3 runs in that would be classified as fresh, then it became a a minefield of scraped icy crust and bumps.

Resident mobsters is an apt description.

Got a room near Glacier and came back for a bluebird groomer day on Monday.

The scenery is spectacular. Lots of locals, and much better boarders and skiers, were hiking up and taking adavantage of the slackcountry.
