Mammoth is farther, not a day trip. I've never had any trouble with the kids and I'm 36. It's always better during the week far less crowded.

And yea, I've been out to Tahoe before so I'm pretty familiar with real blacks lol. They are like triple blacks in MI
I would say since you only have a day, make the most of it. Hit up both mountains.

If you really want to go to Mammoth you can just take a flight there. Last I checked the price is around $250-300. From there you can just catch the shuttle to your hotel.

I'm staying with family in SD. Not looking to spend a ton of dough either so not going to hit up both mountains lol. Besides, my bro-in-law is a beginner so it's really pointless for him to do both.

I'll just try to go during a weekday to avoid crowds/punks.

Too bad you missed the Leap Year Deal! I think lift ticket is specially priced at $29.
Leap Day Lift Ticket Deal | Snow Summit

Good luck, hope your brother in law enjoys his trip.

By "Both mountains" i think he meant Bear and Snow Summit. They are right next to each other and one lift ticket gives you access to both mountains. Not riding both is almost a waste of half a lift ticket.

Really? Sweet. Didn't know that. Do you have to drive to switch mountains? Or do they have shuttles?

There is fun to be had at Snow Summit too, but there is NOTHING steep. They have some double blacks on the map but, they're groomed, and not that steep. And the 'steep' section is about 100 feet long. In my opinion if it's groomed then by default it can't be a double black but what the hell do I know? I normally ride at Mammoth so maybe my perception is skewed compared to someone coming from Detroit. But if you've been out west, then you will probably see things like I do. (i.e. it's FLAT!)

if you post this in southwest US you'll probably get more replies
Lol first time I ever smelled weed was bear. Saw people lighting "something" that smelled like skunk and years later I realized that people were toking next to my 10 year old self.
And yeah your evo is all you'll need at bear.
