I've seen the the thread for Resort recommendations, but couldnt find anything on CAT/Heli trips ? Any of you had a killer Cat trip worth mentioning ? Preferably Montana, Oregon, Idaho and B.C.
My annual Cat trip to Peak Adventures came to a halt, all because of the state of Idaho. The owner (of 17 years) Steve, sold it to a young couple from Colorado and Idaho state shut them down with a line of B.S., so now I'm looking for a place that I feel will be hard to match Peak Adventures. Three years ago I planned a Heli trip for me and my buddies 25th year riding anniversary. We were never so disappointed in our 25 years of riding, it wasn't the terrain, the conditions or the guide, it was the false claims on North Cascades Heli's website. You are guaranteed 5 runs and so many vertical feet, well those 5 runs took us approx 1 hour, from the time we got to the Heli Barn in the morning, to loading up the Heli and making our 5 runs, it was under 2 hours total, their secretary even asked if we were back already and that she hadn't even made our lunches yet. The false claim I was talking about is that on their website it says " Come and join us for a full day of untouched powder turns", FULL DAY under two hours, I cant figure out how you can possibly make that trip last all day, when we did our 5 runs in a hour ? and all that for $900+, I will spend my cash on Cat trips from this point on, it definitely wasn't the 25th Anniversary snowboard trip we were hoping for. |

^^Baldface is badass, no doubt.
I've had great trips up to Big Red Cats out of Rossland BC and have gotten to know the owners Kieren and Paula over the past few years. Great people and a great operation. I highly recommend taking a trip there. |

Where I work is currently doing work for Baldface at the downtown Nelson location and at the lodge. Completely revamping the network and wireless in the lodges and some other tech type stuff. We are trading our labour for Cat time this winter so I can't wait.

B.C. has the most cat/heli operations in the world, I have a picture of my dad digging his GMC 4x4 pickup out of 6 feet of fresh snow, that fell overnight |

I was reading an article in the Denver Post talking about this heroin addict girl who averages $110 a day sitting there, spends it all on dope. |

From the Baldface page
New terrain is opened every year at Baldface. Once an area is deemed safe, guests can make first descents and on memorable occasions name their runs. Forever Trevor, Dad’s Choice, Stoney Baloney, Cheeky Monkey and BB Bowl are just a few of these special runs. Now how cool does that sound? TT
