Pants for PNW?
 

Hey

Any suggestions on snowboard pants for up here?

I'd like to keep my ass dry. Sitting down to strap in and sitting on the lifts seems to leave my pants soaked through.

I've read 20k waterproof is good and gore-tex is better. Not looking to break the bank on artyerx so would like to see if you guys have any experience of what has worked.

I've been eyeing some bonfire ballistic pants?

I prefer bibs for those deep PNW pow days, I have a pair of ArcTeryx and Marmot bibs, but I also have a pair of Burton AK pants (great pants).

There's an Arc'teryx factory sale in Vancouver on 'til the end of the year. Their gear is usually way out of my budget, but they had three models of pants marked down to $199 from $650. Picked up a pair to replace my bottom of the line Burton pants.

Definitely worth giving them a call.

Personally I will only buy pants 20K or higher, although 15K+ is probably sufficient. I definitely wouldn't go any lower than that unless you plan to buy new pants every season, use waterproofing wash/spray regularly, and don't do much hiking/sitting/falling.

Totally! Buy from REI or some other place with lifetime guarantees and you won't need to worry about that item of gear again, just check it off the list.

I wear the 686 LTD Destructed Denim and have never even been close to wet this season on a full day of riding. 15k waterproof, 10k breathability. Maybe in wet spring conditions that could change but every time I go in the lodge it just pours off my gear and dries in a hurry.
