Whitefish

Coming down to Whitefish for the first time this weekend. :yahoo: Any tips on good runs from locals? I am interested in deep bowls and decently spaced trees.

Good restaurant/bars advices would be greatly appreciated too.

Thanks in advance!

Never boarded at Whitefish, but I've been through the town briefly in the summer. Cool little place. I'd recommend Black Star Draught House for beers and bar food.

Not a local but rode there a bit... not really much for bowls as I know them, theres trees on the peak... If you head up to summit though theres a lot of really good tree runs on both the front and backside... make sure you have good low light goggles that place has the worst visibility ever, fog and flat light... there was times I didn't know which way was down. Really fun though I liked it there.

I do a trip every year, gonna be there next weekend Feb8-12. I spend a ton of time in the Schmidts chute/northface bowl area, cut skiers left anywhere off of the top of inspiration and it will be nice steep treed runs with some cliffs to choose from. The only problem with this area is the long traverse back to the bottom.

Also check out Hellroaring and East Rim for some good terrain.

Be careful on the backside around runs like Big Horn, you will see some nice fresh pow back there, but there are some serious flat areas mid way down back there that suck to hike out of, I seem to do this once a year and curse myself each time.

On the Hill check out the Bierstube, its a happening joint usually with some live music. Or for eat and drinks check out the Hellroaring Saloon.

If you are heading into town, the Bulldog is worth checkin out, they run a game of Holdem in the back and bathrooms are filled with porn. If your from Canada you will definatley run into someone you know there. Wings are super cheap here and has nice greasy bar food.

Otherwise check out Great Northern, can be happening place with good prices.

For eats check our Mambo Italiano, cool Italian joint thats in an old house, little more pricey than burger king tho. If you make it into Kalispell check out Mooses Saloon, it has an atmosphere unlike most places, food and service is marginal tho.

That's quite the deal. No this is a 8 man condo. Friend booked it sometime after new years and it turned out to be $115 for 3 nights/person. Costco tickets for 105, I figure we can't lose.
