Default Freebording

I just picked my self up a used freebord on Ebay.

The skatebording thread got me interested in something for the summer

Any freeborders out there have any newbie tips

A little background, i never really skateboarded as a youth.

You might try google to see if there's a freeboard forum or group. I had never skated as a kid either. But for a while, I was really interested in the concept of freeboards and how they rode. That was a couple of years ago, but it seemed a bit obscure and I sorta lost interest.

Today, I'm all hot for the Baja Board motorized dirtboard. I will be saving all my pennies, nickels and dimes to get one of those when they finally hit the market.

Anyway, I hope you do find some fellow freeboarders to help you along. Let us know how it goes with your riding!

maaaannnnn.. i been trying to pick one of these up for years.

i was in san fran in 06 on a family vacation and saw these dudes ripping down lombard street on these boards that they were sort of drifting on. i thought "holy hell that looks crazy, what is it?!".. a few years later i came across a few online advertisements for these things called freebords. i was so excited when i realized they were the same boards i saw in san fran.

i tried to order one online to Aus, where i was living but the company HQ was based in NZ and for whatever reason they couldnt send one out. i was never too fussed for living in sydney is fairly flat and theres not a whole lot of roads u can rip it on. but now living in the mountains in BC year round, i want to get one again. although the roads here are rough and i feel it would be too hard on a freebord and would mean "catching an edge" more often then not. concrete is a whole lot less forgiving then snow too.

let me know how it goes. very very interested in these. looking to finally pick one up in the not so distant future.

I just picked one up last week

Had one a couple years ago, but it was the earlier model with crappy aluminum sky hooks.
Had to sell it last year.

Been wanting to find another one & got a smokin' deal on my brand new one.

Few months back as I was leaving Value Village, some dude was donating/dropping off a couple full face helmets.

I snagged them just before he put them in the box. Thank you.

Traded a full face, plus a little bit of bubble hash & honey oil.

I got a brand new freebord for the cost of a can of butane

Here is a crappy little clip of me Freebording.
[VIMEO]61323856[VIMEO]
I couldn't get it too work. haha
https://vimeo.com/61323856

I only had about 3 hours on my old one, so I don't really know any tips to give you?
I need to find some as well

The first couple times I tried my old one, I tried it in front of my house on a tiny little hill.

I couldn't do it, thought I might have made a bad choice?

You need a fair size hill, one that's steeper than you think you'll need.
Don't worry you won't end up going fast.

Don't try & ride it straight
That's where I had a lot of problems.

Just carve, right away.

I'm not going to tell you to buy pads & a helmet & all that jazz.
But... I will say.

Buy some sliding gloves, the kind with plastic fingers & palms.
It's inevitable, that your going to put your hands down.

I did in this video & burnt the pads off my fingers.

TT

Get a Freebord chomper, they're mint.

I found this video online.
hopefully it will help
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRwFfq3Tl1g

it is the official freebord how to ride.

My board is due to arrive Tomorrow

I got a used 80cm revolt with the alpha trucks and s2 bindings.

it also came with a 75cm deck as well, so if i crash and burn i will give it to my kid.

as for protection.... I practice what I preach.... full Battle gear.
I am in for knee surgery in august, so don't need any more injuries
(please don't question my sanity in buying this Just chalk it up to mid life crisis)

I think i will take advice on the gloves as well
i will try and put a video together once I can get some control

Stopping looks like it would result in square wheels, fast!

I don't know about square? Don't think they would get flat spots quite as bad a normal wheel?

But definitely wear down 10 times faster.

I'm already thinkin' of trying to find some big hard wheels, I don't even know if they make that type?

90mm 90duro, anyone one know if someone makes a wheel like that?

Found another video

I could not do it for the life of me, on this piss ass hill.
It goes a little longer, but it's not steep enough.

Obviously I just suck donkey balls, cause it's a hill.
I should be able to ride down it.

That was the first time ever stepping on one.
