Default Kayak anyone ?

Just got my first fishing kayak (wilderness tarpon 120), I rented last year probably should have bought but wanted to see how it was first; I am hooked pardon the pun.
I do allot of fishing during the spring and summer pretty much every weekend all day every day, pack the girls up and we roll out.
I dropped a good amount of coin on a nice Hobie Fishing kayak. Just wondering if anyone else partakes in the sport of kayak fishing. If the weather cooperates this weekend I should christen the USS FishAlot!

Hey, glad to hear about another yak fisherman. I've been fishing from my kayak for around 10 years. I've paddled may different kayaks including the tarpon 120. That's a nice boat! Congrats. I own a Cobra sit on top that I fish from. It's been very good to me! I'd love the hobie with the pedal power so I could fish hands free but I just can't commit to dropping the coin on that.

Where do you fish? What type of fishing? I fish a lot of fresh water since I've been in NY, but my main type of fishing from the kayak is costal and in the Chesapeak bay. Mostly for striped bass. My largest fish from the yak is a 44 inch striper. I was trolling when I caught it in 2 ft. of water. When the fish hit my boat spun around 180 degrees immediatly and he took me for a sleigh ride. It was incredible. One of my favorite things to fish for from the yak is the shad run on the potomac river in the spring. I've had days where I catch 100's of shad while other folks in boats are catching nothing. So much fun!

Fresh water mainly, I live in Virginia Beach so I have access to quite a bit of different fish, be it in the bay, ocean or fresh water. I would love to get my yak out and catch a striper or two but I am not so educated on the rig I need to hook into one. I am a total newb to the yak fishing scene trying to get my boat up to par, as well as fishing gear, I want to just carry 3 poles that's enough for me. Last year I spent allot of time out at Back Bay, and Northwest River. I would like to make it out to the bay for that shad run sounds fun. Where do you put in and catch those buggers? Not that I want your honey hole....

I REALLY want to take up kayaking. I can't say I've done it yet, but I've been looking at them and I want to get a 2 person ocean kayak and hit the coast. It looks like a lot of fun. I don't think the wife would like the paddling part, so I want a 2 person so I can do all the work. THAT part isn't too exciting.

Even though this is a resurrected thread I figured I'd chime in. Love kayak fishing. Been doing it about 17 years now. I just use a normal kayak though, don't really see the point of the specialized ones. Maybe if I were ocean fishing in it I might but for the lakes and rivers around here they seem like overkill.

Used to have an Ocean Kayak Prowler when I lived in Florida. Loved that little boat. Took it all over the place. I miss the rivers and springs down there, and the warm Gulf water and all the little islands you could paddle to and camp on the beach or just hang out and drink beer. We've only been out once in the bay here, but I'd like to do more. There are a lot of really cool places to go out in Prince William Sound. What I really want even more though, is a packraft.
