How long did it take you guys to REALLY get into skateboarding and actually stick with it? ....or is it just something you do when you're bored?

Not certain tbh... I was 11 or 12 years old, but I'd say by 15 I was ripping... 8 to 10 sets, handrails (which I really don't mess with now at 36) and a launch ramp master!(LOL). We built a ramp around this time and I became pretty good at mini-ramps. And, fyi, this was the age of big flat boards with no nose! Ask Sedition!

I'm new to longboarding, not skateboarding, live in Florida and am looking to get a longboard to mainly cruise and carve the neighborhood as well as something that will also help me stay in shape for snowboarding. From the research I've done I think I've narrowed it down to a few different boards and am looking to get some feedback on each of them as to which will best fill what I'm looking for. Below are the ones I'm looking at getting, as well as the setups I was looking at for them, any other suggestions let me know.
Original Custom 35 (Looks awesome, but pricey. Is it worth it?) Setup: S8's, Retro Zig Zags Red, Reds/Super Reds Never Summer Norad,or Swift (Have read it closely mimics snowboarding?) Setup: As sold at Daddies Arbor Fish-Koa, or Bamboo (Concerned about being stiff and carving on flatground) Setup: Randal 150's, Danos 70 blues, Reds/Super Reds.
