I always wanted to try surfing...in fact it is the reason I took up snowboarding, cause I thought it would be the next best thing. Now, I think snowboarding is probably better than surfing (no sharks/jellyfish/skull crushing coral reefs, etc) but I still want to try surfing. How hard would it be for a middle-aged buffoon to learn?

I have always wanted to learn how to surf but I would need a lot of floatation in my wetsuit. I think I will stick to the Boardwalk, the Giant Dipper and fried twinkies.

I found that it is actually very easy to transfer. In those 4 years I havent been surfing I have been doing nothing but snowboarding. The only hard part is that snowboarding is more a leg oriented sport and surfing needs lots of upper body strength to paddle. Its great fun I say go for it
