They pass me uphill and I pass them downhill. Maybe 1 out of 10 rides I will ride with someone. They usually ride on the local eagle and summit county circuits and it's a fairly decent gauge of speed even if it is rare. None of them are bike snobs that care what or how you ride therefore don't fall into my "most" category. I. Ride my bike 4 or 5 days a week so I'm doing something right this year....

Since I am on vacation... The specialized shop in Huntington Beach don't care if I buy parts for my "vacation bike", a 8-speed bikes direct road bike with a triple crank..... They did like my specialized road bike I brought in last year....

It boils down to as long as you're riding and using your legs to power it, it's all good.

We don't need the attitudes:
Snowboarders vs skiers
MTB vs roadies

Hard to believe a shop would exhibit a snobish attitude towards a paying customer,.. But I have experienced similar elitist snobery myself from various establishments. Now, any time I get the first wisp of such from any salesperson? I politely but publicly tell them to "Piss Off!"

As for on trail rivalries? Around here it's more MTB's vs equestrians! MTB's and roadies don't use the same trails so don't see why there would be any discord amongst them.

...But, a great many of the parks here share trails with horses. The trouble arrises out of skittish horses (...and their riders) being surpirized and frightened by the bikes.

Two things happened today, 1) bike riding with boys happened. It was awesome. And 2) I ate shit. My bad.

What happened, you ask? Well, it was something silly and stupid. I'm not used to steep drop offs, so in my nervousness, I grabbed a handful of rear, and then front brakes and proceeded to splat. Lesson of the day? Don't grab the front brakes, and if you do, don't grab violently like I did.

Bahahahaha. Your son is fantastic! And yeah, I'm learning to work over my fear of speed and losing control. Sometimes that's half the fun, right??

Blood Right of passage!

Yup!! Definitely gotta finesse those fronts more than the rears! Glad you had a good ride with the boys! (...and I didn't mean for all that to sound quite so suggestive!)

Some pics of two of my rides from the weekend. First from Riverside Park in Manhattan then Caumsett State Park on Long Island.
