Anybody else fill their offseasons with multiple theme park trips, to ride multiple rollercoasters all summer long? Like you obsess about them until your next trip??? Or am I the only snowboarder-coaster enthusiast hybrid? Cause that's what I do hhahahaha

I used to live in Southern California and would go to Magic Mountain as a kid, which is one of the biggest theme parks in the world. They have like 12 coasters or something now, and some really gnarly ones. The problem however, is that since I no longer live there, that place pretty much ruined theme parks for me. The only theme park really in the PNW (Silverwood) is about 30 miles from me but it's so small compared to Magic Mountain I have no motivation to go.
It's like powder, once you get enough of it you don't want to ride anything else.

For anyone that does come to the park, just a bit of advice. Don't come on weekends, and I suggest going Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Reason being if someone takes a 3 day weekend it'll be Monday or Friday. Also if you stay at one of Cedar Points hotels you get into the park an hour before the general public. If you can't afford the hotels and want to come out there's a ton of camp grounds in the area with pretty cheap prices. ![]() Pretty damn cool too that a season pass for Cedar Point is only 106 bucks considering it's 40 something to get in now. Gotta admit this is probably the best coaster I've ridden. |

I used to like amusement parks and roller coasters when I was a kid. Then, when I was 16 I worked for the summer as a lifeguard for the water park section of Paramount's King's Dominion near Richmond, VA. That summer ruined me for life for amusement parks. I rode rollercoasters nearly every singly day at closing but seeing the behind the scenes operations kind of takes the luster off. Not to mention, I saw some extremely seedy things during that summer.

That man at Darien Lake had one thigh, cut off at the knee, and the other leg was completely gone all the way to the hip. Therefore the LAP bar couldn't hold him in, because he HAD NO LAP. The ride was completely safe, there were just dumb idiots who let him on. It sucks because I was planning to go there on the 16th of July, and this happened. I still went, but it sucked having the best coaster in NY down.
On that note, it's cool to see that other snowboarders are into coasters a bit too. This summer I visited three parks; Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Kennywood (my home park, I lived in PGH till I was 14), and Darien Lake. As of today, at age 18, I've ridden 55 different rollercoasters, and I gurantee you that I'll be over 100 in a matter of years. BTW if you're a member of TPR then hi! If you're a member, you'll know what that stands for
