What are some good cheap shoes to skate in? I really don't feel like dropping $120 on shoes I'm gonna tear up in a month. Back in the day we used to get Adidas Stan Smiths but they were so stiff... something comfortable would be nice.
Anyways, if you know some budget shoes that happen to be great for skateboarding then post away. |

get them at tj maxx or ross or whatever. They carry brands like Vans, DC, etc...
I always get my sk8 shoes from such places 50-60 bucks for good ones usually. I find sk8 shoes to be pretty equal for the most part if you compare models with similar construction/style. 2 of the best pairs I've ever had were a brand called NSS, which are practically no-name, but they looked dope and held up well. Just goto a discount store. The main thing when choosing a shoe for actual skating rather than for style is to make sure it has that soft rubber on the soles, and plenty of it(for landing cushion, and also for board dexterity). Also look for thick leather in your ollie spots (front side of front foot for the most part), as well as throughout the shoe, rather than models with canvas or vinyl. I've always loved Vans the most, but I've owned probably 20 different brands and they were all fine. If you skate hard your gonna destroy them anyway

Thryll sometimes has defunct skate brands trying to liquidate warehouse stuff. I like the shape of both DC's Pure and Graffik shoes. You can find them on the internet in various colorways at various times for about $25.
I like Fallen's stuff, too. I have a few pairs I got for $40 at the local shop for colorways left over from the previous year. |
