Rollerblading/Inline Skating

Just curious if there's anyone who is/was into inline skating. Now before I get flamed for being a "fruitbooter" I'm not talking about this:http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...e.jpg&newest=1

It is...? :dunno:

It's been years (7-8) since I was into this but I heard a song that was in a video I had and it reminded me so I was wondering if this was anyone else's gig at some point in time

I used to. I think I started fruit-booting in maybe 1994 and probably stopped sometime in 1998 when college and drinking beer became more important to me. This topic comes up every once in a while. Somewhere I have a VHS tape of us skating back in the day I should find that and try to digitize it for the lolz. I also have some photos from the mid-1990s, somewhere, too.

I was pretty good at real street features, handrails, and even spins up to 7s, but never did any comps or anything because I never liked vert (even "street" courses are/were mostly tranny features).

Can it even be called rollerblading if you don't have a fanny pack and bandanna?

Used to be a fruitbooter in the early 90's also, actually went to Woodward a couple times. Also skateboarded a bit, but I was nowhere near the point of doing handrails, etc that I could do on skates. Used to skate the local park with Alex Broskow a bit, but his parents made him quit our lacrosse team because it was too dangerous apparently, haha.

There was an article about this recently - Make Rollerblading as Cool as It Was in 1994 - Wired How-To Wiki

Like david_z and luckboxing... I rollerbladed in the nineties and had fun doing it, but pretty much stopped during college (I still play a lot of ice hockey though). It was fun, popular and pretty easy to pick up - the last being important in that a lot of girls also rollerbladed, even in the city or on somewhat hilly slopes.

ilikecoupons - to do a rail the most basic thing to do was to land with the rail between your 2nd and 3rd wheels (in the middle) and skid on the plastic of the wheel frame.

I inlined when I was younger. Picked it up again when I was Texas for three years out of boredom. Lol. Don't really do it anymore unless I have to watch my brother at the skatepark. That happens very rarely now.
