cheap longboard

Basically I'm suffering from withdrawal now that the season has ended and am looking to buy a longboard for not too much money to make the summer more bearable. I don't want to do anything extreme, just some mellow cruising. I did a little research but I'm not totally sure what I want, hopefully you guys will have some good suggestions.

Pick one up for cheap on Craigslist and decide if you like doing it. Then you can worry about plunking down big cash for a sweet set-up.

I definitely like it - I've borrowed my friend's a few times and I had a ton of fun. I'm just looking to get my own so I can do it more often.

I'd still scan Craigslist, only now you know that you like it, so you can look for a higher end board. Otherwise, you can find cheapish boards and parts online, and local shops are always a good place to look as well. Longboarding can be pretty expensive though, so unless you plan on riding hard everyday, then I'd save some cash and go used. That's how I got mine, and it has worked out well for me.

Any advice on what to look for? I want to get a shorter board, but other than that I know nothing.

Well... let's start with basics, what's your budget and what are you looking to do?

Just some cruising around on small hills. Basically I want to get the most value for around $100. I'd be willing to spend more if it's impossible to get a decent setup for that price.

If you buy used, you MIGHT be able to get a decent set up, otherwise, plan for a bit more. You can get a new Kracked Skulls set up for about $120. The board is price point, but the trucks and wheels that come with it are highly recommended.

Alright, I'll plan on spending more. Other than the one you recommended, what set up would you recommend?

Just to point out, I picked up my longboard for way under $100. Craigslist is great! I have an Original Pintail Cruiser. It came with Original trucks and wheels as well. I still rock the Original trucks, but did upgrade the wheels to something better. Anyway, I paid the dude $25 for it, cause he had a new board and just wanted his old one gone. :D
