I've had a freeboard for a few years. It works really well and really does mimic snowboarding pretty accurately. Like a few posts say, you need a good downhill, and have to walk it back up, unfortunately like snowboarding as well.

One of the main reasons I don't ride it that much is if you catch an edge, there is almost no coming back. Definitely not as forgiving as riding on snow in terms of riding AND falling. If you use bindings it makes it even worse.

But in all falls dont happen much if the pavement is clear, and the feeling of snowboarding on the street is well worth it.

I've had a Freebord for about the last three years.
I thought it would be a great way to maintain training for snowboarding.
I've tried it on and off, but I just can't get consistent with it, so I put it away after a few days each year trying it again.

Finding a long enough slope without alot of traffic is the biggest obstacle imo.

I have always wanted to try one of those, but I also like having skin. So i've always been on the fence.

Got mine all picked out, and me bday is coming soon...stopped caring about fad or not fad long ago, fukkit, it looks fun to me, I'm on it

Saw a good comment on YouTube, a response to a long boarder freebord hater..."it's not a longboard, it's not supposed to be a longboard, or have anything to do with long boarding, it's meant to emulate snowboard riding on street, that's all, cunt"....I liked that

No reason IMO that they be mutually exclusive, I got my eye on a sweet longboard too! Ha

+1. I longboard so I can testify on the hate. Takes away from the discipline and pain undergone while learning how to do proper slides or spins. But I fuckin love snowboarding too much to give a fuck about tradition. But I'd say it's more like snowboarding being introduced for the first time to Skiers. I'm really dying to get one these because my city is hilly as fuck.

I think what needs to be remembered here is that every board discipline has its riding style. Hating on a freeborder is like hating on a surfer because they use the water instead of the snow. Freebording never claims to take over long boarding they are different disciplines.
