Depends on the trucks, but you might actually want to buy harder bushings. You could technically crank on the kp as much as you want, but it's not healthy for the bushings. Once you notice them getting bulgy, it's time to try something different. Since you're brand shiny new to this, get comfortable with little things like pushing and footbreaking first, and then decide from there if you want to stiffen things up.

Also, don't feel like a douche learning at your age. There is actually a fairly large group of OG longboarders that are in the 40+ age group and will tear you a new one if you give them shit for being "old."

And the key to getting the wheels to break traction is to go wear gloves and a helmet, and go faster. If you have no clue what you're doing, look up the Coleman slide on youtube as a starting point. Once you learn the basics of that, there's a whole new world out there for sliding.

And Casual, I'll be out at Old Keilor road pretty much every Tuesday until the end of summer. You should come skate and check out my new whip too.

That was my big achievement last year lol, riding that from top to bottom... was so proud haha.

I got it on my first day there, the only day I've ridden it but it did not come without consequence haha. I have a hard time with BS slides so I had to do a lot of FS speedchecks before the corners, I was on edge the whole way though and I crashed a lot, I think I climbed it 15 times before I got it lol. Come to think of it, it wasn't last year it was the year before, end of summer... I barely rode last year as I was skating all the time. My buddy bailed into the woods and down a big hill, funniest shit ever (for me) but he was pretty pissed. I'm not even sure how I got down to be honest, I'm really not a great longboarder.

I work during the day.. do you ride at night or day?

I'm almost always out during the evenings only. I'm usually too pooped in the morning to go skate. And just as a heads up, Tuesday pin's sessions are back on. I'll be there provided it's not pissing rain. If you want help with your slides, there are oodles of riders who are willing to give you tips and pointers.

been skating park and or longboard every day since the season 'ended', so fun...gotten into, and out of some pretty hairy situations, haha...couple bailouts but no major slams, knockknock

i kept my skatekey in my pocket for a few sessions, getting the kp dialed just right, tightened 1/2 turn every run, backed em off, tried everything..now for carving i have em pretty loose, looser than i ever thought i would, so i can really dig in the carves, feels very much like a snowboard the way it can pop out of the carve...then if i want to do a bit more dhownhill of a run i crank em 2 full turns tighter and it is perfect

So the Top Speed is bomb diggity until you go fast. And then it gets a bit hairy. Losing 6" off the wb probably doesn't help either.
