From board to board...

Yeeeha. Leaving tomorrow for kitesurfing holiday. Complete beginner, wished to learn it for a long time. Wish me luck! I'm a bit nervous, afraid of the kite and all the cords n stuff. I'm a rather clumsy person, I'm sure I'll find a way to strangle myself :) any last tips to avoid accidents are very welcome.

Somehow weird... just unpacked the snowboarding stuff and now packing neoprene suit and bikinis. After a long cold season packing many times long thick socks, warm pullovers and waterproof boots it's like... heck... what does one wear at a beach...? and in which corner of the cupboard would that be hidden...? :yahoo: tomorrow and the next 7 days: 25C :yahoo:
Ok, I guess, I dont need wollen socks... ugh... where are the flip flops...? Will I ever learn to pack earlier than after midnight before the day of flight? ;)

Good luck! I saw people doing it last time I was in Hawaii and I definitely want to give it a try. Where are you doing it?

Canaries - Fuerteventura. Closest spot with constant wind and decent air temperatures this time of year. Though the water will be pretty cold...
oh! Moskito spray!!

Congrat's!!!! Hope you have a ball!!!

I definitely would like to hear about your experience with this afterward!!! A friend of mine bought a Kite Board lesson thru one of those groupon coupon kind of deals & wanted to know if I wanted to join her!!!

I was thinking about trying a wake boarding lesson or two this summer, seems like dealing with the kite AND the board would be a lot more difficult! For sure I am interested in hearing your first hand NooB impressions of the sport!

Later Edit:
...the advantage of the kite board tho is I wouldn't need to find a "Rich Friend" with a boat!!! :D

Of me being hauled by the kite accross the beach eating sand... I'm sure you'd love to see that :D I'll look what I can do.
Was only able to get the Drift with the basic accessories, couldn't order additional stuff so far. Not sure, how to attach it without having helmet or goggles. There's nothing I could glue the adaptors to.

yes, that!...then you can compare with the triumph of (hopefully) not sand eating by the end of the week, haa!

The instructor announced already that one should keep ones expectations low. IF one will be able to ride on board on water by the end of the week is not sure. Some will, some won't. They had people who expected a lot cause the did wakeboarding or snowboarding but struggled a lot with the kite. Very curious and eager to find out, if I'll get the feeling for the wind :)
