YoBeat: Making Fun of Snowboarding Since 1997
Safety Meetings are a celebrated tradition in snowboard culture, and with Colorado’s whole legal weed thing, you’d think this season would be all about high boarding at 9,000 ft. But of course, the no fun police have a thing or two to say about that. Twenty-two of Colorado’s resorts lie on National Forest Service land, making marijuana use still illegal and Colordao’s laws prohibit MJ use in public. How these annoying rules will be enforced varies by resort.
According to a story in the Denver Post, “Marijuana smokers could lose their ski passes or receive an indifferent shrug depending on where they hit the slopes this winter. For some, the different policies could add to the confusion that has followed Colorado’s legalization of recreational pot.”
Already at A-Basin a few passes have been taken away for smoking pot. So stoners, be careful when toking up this season, or at least, do it out of plain sight.
