Angry a little rant about office politics

OK so it was my bosses birthday yesterday and the brownnosers in my office decided with out asking any one else that they are going to get him a gift card and a card ... big fucking deal! but then they come to me and email me this ::
Hello everyone, the total for all on the cost for Phil's birthday card is $3.65 each.

Card: 3.69
gift certificate: 25.00
activation fee: 3.95
tax: .28

TOTAL: 32.92
9 persons = 3.65 each

Thank you,

Kathy

:::: they did this to me last year with out even asking me if it was ok. I am sorry why in the world would i want to do something for someone else that dosn't even acknowledge my birthday. and why would i want to give something when i am paid like SHIT!

Bummer, all I can say is it goes back to brown nosing and the "Do not burn your bridges" moto. Even at places I was not very fond of, I tried to do my job and leave on good terms. Over the years I have built up a nice little block of referrals I can use by doing this. Many have hired me into different jobs more than once. Can be very handy when you are looking for work. So pay the $3.65 and think of dirty tricks you can play on the asshat who initiated this...

Don't pay. Brown-nosers need to know their deeds must come with a price. Your boss couldn't give a toss about the card, already forgot who signed it and is trying to figure out how to throw the card in the bin without raising suspicions. Your boss knows who the brown-nosers are and a good boss will know how to use them for his advantage. Do a good job BUT make sure it is noticed by the boss and soon those office hags will be trying to fit up your ass for a change.

the thing with work is.... people are pricks! there you go i said it! so much for my social skills!

you have to be very lucky to find work you enjoy, that is also with people you like! unless you can suck it up and tolerate the brown nosing arseholes! a fact of life sadly. most if not all people feel this way, it is just that some are better able to hide it than others.

an example from the life of paolo:

there is this woman, a stroppy stumpy legged freak, who has dropped a few kids in her time. one of the sprogs goes to a kindergarten or whatever and this kindergarten was having a sponsored toddle! WTF!?

anyways, out comes the sponsorship form.... and she does the rounds. i hear her saying "oh don't feel obliged; i'm not forcing you; no guilt trip" et cetera....

and then she comes up to me. i simply say "no thank you". and she acts stupefied. horror struck. "not even a pound?" "not anything at all??" with a louder voice for the benefit of the entire office...

"no thank you" is all i say, with a smile. and off she huffs and puffs to no doubt slag me off to the heavens!

now the point is, this place is in one of the richest bits of london; i look out the window and there are armed coppers coz of the government members living around here; we have movie stars and their german supercars all over the place; it is Gwyneth Paltrow-ville..... do they need my skanky quid? do they bollocks.

if i feel inclined to give a charitable donation, i know where to find them and i know there are a shit load more noble causes than bolstering this troll's efforts to collect more than other 'yummy mummies'.

oh dear... gotten into a rant of my own here.

the moral of the story.... whatever it is in life, or at work..... if you don't want to do something, then you owe it to yourself to simply RESPECTFULLY DECLINE.

life is is as complex as you wanna make it!

Just coz you don't understand it
Doesn't mean it makes no sense!
