"Affluenza" = rich kids get out of jail free.

rich kid drives drunk and kills four people, lawyer uses "affluenza" as the reason he can't be held responsible for his actions.

judge is retiring next year, not running for reelection.

judge and richie rich should both be summarily executed.

Because they are corrupt, and so rich that they feel superior. But guilt is a bitch.

Lets be honest here. The US penal system disproportionately punishes those who don't have money to defend themselves. There is clear and strong correlation between the amount of money you have and how easily you get let off. Apparently if you're poor, you're automatically more guilty.

Really.

I'm seeing a bunch of cases coming up where the defense is "poverty" or "broken home" or "abused as a child".
All things being (otherwise) equal, these offenders should get away with no jail time as well.

If two people commit the same crime under the same circumstances the sentences should be the same. Sentencing shouldn't be up to the judge's discretion.
