Customers question @ Tube/buff value for you

Hi there SBforum,

I would love if you would take 2 minutes to read this and let me know your thoughts about it.

The thing is I'm sitting as a marketer trainee in a internship for a ski & snowboard travel agency here in Denmark. I've come up with the idea of giving the customer a tube/buff with our logo on when they're arriving as a part of the "welcome to the destination" package.

So I would like to know, would you find it relevant and/or interesting to get a tube/buff and also how do you think this would make your vacation even better? Please let me know what you're thinking about this.

It'll be used in the way we will market this when and if the times come.

Speaking of which kind of Tube, it's a "lightweight" wind-safe tube like the thin ones from Burton, Buff etc.
The material will be 100% micro polyester, like this one: Black [Buff]

Cool idea! For me personally it won't blast my trip and it certainly won't weigh down the scales in decision making over this vacation offer vs. some other, BUT it's a nice little perk and it shows some personal touch from a company towards its clients, IMHO a good move and something your customers will definitely tell their friends about!

Awesome man! Thank you for your input. It's just ment to be an extra value to the customer like some companies giving lib balms and so. In that way I'm trying to figure out how to market it in the right way. But thanks again!

Since you have been a member, and contributing some since you joined. This post doesn't seem to fall into the "Spammy" category we usually see for this sort of thing, so I don't mind chiming in.

1st. It might help if you were to post a pic of a mock up or drawing of the buff with your Co. logo. (...I mean, if it winds up being a pretty cool looking accessory or whether it comes across as a bit cheap or cheesy? This is a consideration, No?)

I would not be inclined to openly wear some cheap, crass or goofy looking, oddly colored company logo'd item, unless it was to make up for an accessory I needed and had forgotten or lost along the way. Even then, I'd wear it under wraps and take it off immediately.

2nd. I tend to agree with Marauder! Whether for an international or locally booked trip, it's not the kind of thing that would really push my decision one way or the other, However, if I booked a trip with your company based on my other criteria? It's the kind of small, customer appreciation type thing that would tend to give me a reason to recommend or return! (....assuming of course that EVERYTHING ELSE your company delivered in the way of said trip was completely satisfactory,.. or better!)

It's a nice touch, Really! Just not all that likely to be anyones idea of a major decision maker! If it were cool looking, If it was functional, and the customer had a terrific travel experience with your company,.. It could make for a conversation starter, and word of mouth presence for your company when the customer returned home! But the travel experience would be the main consideration in what that conversation, word of mouth would be! Pro or Con!

No, I don't tend to spam this forum with many different marketing question at all. Just wanted to hear what you guys think about the idea and have the conversation about it as well.

I don't have a picture right now of the item but I agree with you that the design will have a lot to say if people should have the desire to wear it. It will be a minimalistic design with small logos. Our website looks like this, and you will see the logo in the top left corner which will be the logo on the tube/buff: Skiferie 2014 | Skirejser til ěstrig og Italien med H°jmark Rejser
The color will be a dark blue (like the website there) with white logos.

For some side information I can tell you that we're market leaders here in Denmark, selling skiing hollidays to the Austrian and Italian Alps. Our target group is more likely the "typical Danish family" - 2 parents and 2 kids. Therefor our marketing strategy aims at this target group and the design on the tubes/buffs will also have to show this.

But thank you once again, it's much appreciated!
