Default Viewing MRI's On Mac's?

...I thought I'd toss this one out into the off topic section and see if anyone here knows of some viewer or trick that will let me open & view the MRI scans of my spine on the disk they sent me home with.

It looks like maybe it's Java based? There's a .jar file I can't open and Lots of unix & .exc files I can't open with anything I have either.

I did get to do a quickie review of the images with the tech after the scan, and I thought that I saw something that didn't look good to me. I was hoping to check it out a little closer once I got home.

If anybody is a lot more savvy about this sort of thing or knows of some free viewer I can get, It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What's the full name of the program/jar file? Or the extension of the image file. (dcm/dicom?) I'd google that and see what it says, I'm sure you aren't the first looking to do this on a mac.

Presumably there are some .dcm files on your disk. Here's a mac viewer. Do a google for macos dicom if you want some other options.

Guys!!! Thanks ever so much for the quick responses! You helped me find something to open & view them. It's only a demo so wont last long, but YUP!! I'm F%$K'd! Damn!

I don't need to be a Doctor to see that that disk is NOT RIGHT!

....of course it might not be as serious as it looks. For that I need the doc,.. but now I'm unsure about going into work!

I'll post a pic r two in the "gummer's lament." Thanks again!

posted a couple in the "gummer's" thread. I have some experience in X-ray from the military. I was a Corpsman with the Marines. So I'm not completely ignorant of medical imaging.

...What I see in those doesn't look great to me! (...especially with the shooting nerve pain I have. ) Seriously considering calling into work. No more sick days or not!

I suppose it would be hard for you to post the top down views that matter.
It's actually not that bad. It's still at the stage you can rehab out of it within 2-6 months.
It's just a commitment you would have to make.

I'd would suggest not letting it get to the surgery point though.

I have those,... I need to be heading into work soon, but maybe I can post them later. (...really not sure I should go into work. No pay or not. haven't heard back from my doc yet.) Been working (...in pain!) like this for MONTHS! Truck Driver. Driving, bouncing, Pulling, pushing Air freight containers, etc,..

-sigh- just sucks!
