2014 World Cup

It's that time everyone. Who ya got?

Personally I think Brasil is the best team this year but I expect Argentina and Italy to be strong contenders. I would like to see England put something together but they have a pretty tough group (all solid contenders).

As for USA we have to beat Ghana and at least get a draw with Portugal to have a hope. Our defense finally looked ok last warm-up game but it's going to take being more than just "ok" to get out of the group.

I have Argentina over Brazil in the finals. I picked the US to get of the bracket in the hopes that Portugal has a couple draws. Wishful thinking but you never win the office pool playing it safe.

I tended to lean towards the Americas teams in the closer matches because I think the hot humid conditions are going to play havoc on the Europeans. Sao Paulo was 97F heat index today, > 50% humidity and it's not going to get better. I think it's going to be a rough cup for the Euros.

I'll be supporting Australia who don't have a chance in hell of even winning a match and also Italy. I think it will be a South American team this year, Brazil and Argentina are my top two picks. Also you can never count out the teams like Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Italy. England have a good side for the first time in a while but not good enough to win it in my opinion. Regardless of who wins I am so excited :yahoo:

If Brazil Expects to win games playing like they did today they'll barely make it out of group, well unless of course they coninue to pay refs (I kid, but man we're there some bad ones)

That being said I have Argentina playing Germany with Germany taking it all. I do have the US making it out of group but let's just say it wans't logic that led me to that decision...

I also have Argentina and Germany in the final but with Argentina winning. Who knows, it will just be fun watching the matches. As always there's 5 or 6 teams that could take it. And yes I agree, the refereeing is always interesting in the World Cup.

After seeing their performance in the first match, I agree that Brazil wont win playing like that. But Netherlands this morning were on fire!

Netherlands had a great game! I also thought Mexico played really good but the refs were just seeing how hard they could screw them that game. The sideline official in that game was a joke. Italy vs England today should be a good one.

Alright, T-minus 2 hours until kickoff for the US. I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN, I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN :yahoo:

Given Portugals less than stellar performance they should be pretty amped up. Of course so should Ghana. The US playing against them next without Pepe is a nice little boost though. I'm not sure what the rules are this time around and whether he's out of just the next game or both remaining. They like the change it around.

I'm changing my bet to Germany to win.
