Default Christmas Present?

Okay, I know what you're thinking, "Alaric, why the FUCK do you have a Christmas thread up this early for?" There's a reason it's up this early. Here's the scoop.

I'll be turning 18 on the 25th of this month. My mom's moving to Flordia the 15th of December to live with my dad. With her health and such, my mom, my dad and myself decided that it'd be best if she was there with my dad. I was then given the option of moving down there, or staying here, and finishing highschool. I picked the second option, just because I wanted to be with my best friends for my senior year.

With that being said... she really doesn't have many pictures of me. I've never liked getting my photo taken. So, I thought I'd buy (or maybe even make) a frame, with those compartments (or whatever they are) for single pictures. I'd get pictures of us together, and some pictures I have from over the years professionally touched up (gotta love having people in that industry as friends) and put them into the frame.

Do you guys think that would be a good present, or just fucking cheesey? I want to know your honest opinions. If that's a shit idea, then tell me! I'm just getting sick of giving her flowers and chocolate every year. Thanks everyone

I think its a good shout to be honest, I know my parents and grandparents all like having photos of the family around the house and its always a nice reminder if your gonna be away from them.

I know people throw about "its the thought that counts" often. But when its your parents theres nothing you can really get them material that they need or really want, and it'll show her you do care etc.

Cheesy? NO way. It's your mother for the love of pete! I don't know about you, but mine would be stoked beyond stoked to get an album full of pics of my bro and I, especially if you guys won't be around each other, or won't be easily accessible to each other.

i gave my mom a few frames of pictures of her grandkids last year for christmas...just to hear that she has no room for any of them, lol. but at least she's got some good (frame-worthy) shots of my kids!

plus, they can always regift it to their parents, lol.

My brother and I a couple of years back threw a 40th anniversary party for my parents and the part they liked the best was the digital slide show and video session of all our old pictures of the family and friends from various times/places. My mom and dad (who I'd never seen cry) were bawling at this and I swear to them it made up for all the bullshit we both put them through during our respective teenage years. Memories are the most prized posession for parents and the fact that it's coming from you and your heart will make it even that much more valuable
