Default Kickstarter Projects...

The good the bad and the ugly...!

What experience have you had with them, what is your take on the items you did buy, and would you buy from the same people again...

This goes for Indiegogo as well...

I have backed a few projects, some have been extremely successful, some have been a waste of time and a real disappointment...!

-----

Success for me where...

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/i...able/x/9108424

Well priced, handy to have, and well made.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...thriller-novel

A 1st novel from an english writer, that i have to say, i really enjoyed, i hope he writes a lot more, as i was hooked and couldn't put it down.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...erous-butterup

I bought this, just because, it is cool, and i wish i used butter more, but i still consider a success and i love the idea which is what i bought into really.

-----

Currently Unknowns, but still have hope for.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...on-sports-dron

Looked really promising, and nearly a year down the line, a few development hiccups there is still hope, but very very bad communication from the company.

-----

Failures.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...ry-and-windows

Badly made, not so cheap, alternatives available before they got them to market for a whole lot less money, and have a failure rate that should not happen...! Steer clear.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...ge-your-iphone

Fantastic idea, extremely badly executed and far too slowly and just before the launch of a new model, with no give on people upgrading... Still waiting despite being given a Nov 14 delivery...! And i only ordered the plug and socket for lead...!!!

I only backed one project. It was a rollup organizer for all the GoPro stuff I bought start of my second season. It is really handy for keeping the cameras and housings, as well as all that little loose stuff like mounting pieces, cables, batteries and assorted crap in one convenient, easy to access place! I like it!

I don't have the KS link, but here's the link to the company's site.
Riseful

I've always been curious,.. what happens with those projects that are successful in getting their funding, but fail to deliver a product? Either to market or their backers?

I'm working on an article right now about crowd funding and snowboarding. There's so many horror stories, SO MANY!

But how will I get you guys to crowd fund (Insert some preposterous bad idea that most ultimately will get 100k)?

Somethings, need crowdfunding, like the 3d printer industry was pretty much all funded this way, certainly the home market, and without it there is a big loss to anyone who wants this kind of stuff, then you get the other stuff, that just has no place...! Like 1000's of different case designs, stands etc for phones, just no need...!

People think it is an easy way to get funding for something that is essentially an idea with very little planning or business sense, and then they wonder why they get screwed over...

But some, well some just shine through and you know they will succeed...!

My favourite so far was most definitely the butter knife...!!! Without kickstarter, it simply would not of existed.. Haha

But i will agree, i am yet to see anything snowboard related that has come from kickstarter that deserved to succeed...! I may be mistaken, there may of been one or 2, but i can't for the life of me think what they would of been...!

@BA this wasn't aimed primarily at snowboarding anyway, just what you had found backed and horror stories...

There are things that are definitely needed in crowd funding, but every time I look at snowboarding I just find shit ideas. SHIT! PURE AND UTTER SHIT.

The only project that I was stoked to see backed via crowd funding was Too Hard.
