Is this your master's thesis in a doctoral program (i.e., you're on your way to a PhD in a couple of years), or your dissertation (i.e., you're going to graduate with a PhD in a couple of months)? I think we might use different terminology here in the US.

Here, the thesis defense is the final step after 4y research and publication/dissertation writing, kind of an oral exam where you presents the work and get examined by an expert committee (and you're supposed to defend your work/results/chosen methods).
Now you can forget all that silliness and focus on what is important as winter approaches the northern hemisphere!
