I am not very familiar with their music but they did come to my town and performed with Matisyahu!! That was a badass concert!!

311 came and played at my college in 1993 for the opening kick off party at the "Mountain Lair" (WVU grad) I remember the lead guy was a jerk and was pointing out people for security to toss and antagonizing a lot of the little punks in the audience. Basically he came across as a huge tool.

A few weeks later I remember watching Dave Matthews at the "back yard bash" which is a huge frat party. He was just as good then and I'm not even into his music.

FYI I was never a frat boy

Love me some 311! Seen 'em in concert multiple times. Always an excellent show and never a let down.
