Never know what? Could you be any more vague? If you're asking what caused the brakes to fail, I've already explained that on the first page. Here let me dumb it down..

Driving down road.
Step on brakes and line bursts.
Brakes fail.
Deviant calls tow truck
Tow truck takes car to shop.
Car gets fixed.


There's your conclusion.

If you're asking for what caused the failure of the line, it was due to unseen corrosion.

Thats not the problem with your brakes. That is the result of the problem with your brakes.

Brake line ruptures are pretty bad. Inspect often.

I had a 2006 WRX STi. It was having electrical grelimns. Of course, they ended up being caused by some very basic things: a failing terminal spade for the battery (which looked and felt secured) and an almost clogged air filter on the intake. I assumed it was an electrical gremlin somewhere else in the car, because some of the non essential relays wouldn't change state. One specific one was the that the instrument cluster wouldn't dim when I turned on the headlights. I assume a relay cluster got fried from water; we had recently had heavy rains and I drove up a steep hill which had water like a small stream coming down it.

Anyway, later that year, I went to make a left hand turn off a 2 lane highway onto another highway. There was an oncoming car probably 500 feet up the road so I turned before he got there. Well, I was coming to a stop and downshifting all the way into second and the car just died. I lost power steering and stopped turning and started driving into the oncoming lane. I had to muscle the shit out of that steering wheel to get it turned and clutched it so I could still roll through the lane. I thought for sure I was going to hit him.

The combination of the bad air filter and bad terminal on the battery would stall the car at low speeds with closed throttle under engine braking. As soon as I fixed the spade, it went away. I changed the filter, too.

I dont get it? I was just saying that I appreciate him dumbing it down for me. I think it is you who is butt hurt that you do not have electric scales to do play the pee weight game.

Haha. Car has 230,000 miles on it so it was time for new lines anyways I guess, amazing shape for the mileage though. It was a heart-attack moment because seeing the car in front coming up that quick reminded my of the motorcycle accident last year. Honestly after getting it stopped I just sat there and had a cigarette.
