The hurricane had weakened substantially by the time it reached Quebec City, but it was still pretty intense. 50-120mm rain & 60-120kph winds recorded in various towns throughout the province. Lots of full sized trees downed. A bit of other damage (gazebos, power lines, signs, etc). There was one story of a road that washed out, and swept 2 cars into the river... 1 man presumed dead (still missing).
Still way more intense down in the states though!
Crazy pics on that link, thanks.

Wow, those are just crazy! I have to say though, I live in NJ and it didn't hit nearly as hard as we expected. We lost power for a few hours... thats it.

VT got hit really hard. Montgomery (town at the base of Jay Peak) Was an island for a few days with no roads in or out. Fortunately they got fixed faster than many. There are still a lot of towns that are getting supplies airlifted in. Rte 242 in Jay washed out pretty bad in several spots. Going up to the mountain from town is still 1-lane because of where the road washed out in this pic.
Lots of bridges all washed out. Down in Waterbury main st was under about 4' of rushing water. One of my favorite bars to hit in that town had water stains and debris on top of the tables.

This was only a category 1 hurricane. Just imagine if it had been anything worse, let alone a 4 or 5.

The big issue with VT was that it kind of stalled out against the mountains and dumped out most of the last of its moisture over southern and central VT.
