At least to me, fuel efficiency is a deal-breaker as well, which is why I always steer clear of SUV type vehicles. Yes you get the clearance and maybe 4WD, but you pay twice in gas. Assuming you aren't right next to a mountain, the gas money just to go snowboarding can kill you. Paying $70 to fill my tank a week ago was a painful experience.

Im in Latham..but nah ive never gone to maple, i learned at Willard and ive only been there, Gore and Jiminy. My dad doesnt ski or board and my mom skis every once and a while, so i dont really get to go to alot of places unless i get invited by friends. But im also pretty much booked every weekend since im workin at Gore this season. I dont love jiminy but its ight..i only go there for ski club with my school cuz my friends do it, even though most of my friends arent very good haha, its kinda annoying being the good one in a group of friends when they all started like 2 yrs before me. Plus im not a park rat lol...mostly freeriding/freestyle and park maybe once or twice a day. I love Gore though its awesome haha but im sure some of the vermont places are better. Im at gore every weekend and school break pretty much from start of december to end of march/into april. If you head up there..tell me and ill show ya around haha, theres alot of trails ppl dont know about that are sick

Bparmz, i feel you on the family situation. It definitely makes everything a lot harder when parents don't want to drive you. I'll let you know if I do go to Gore at all, that would be cool. I can speak for most of the southern vermont mountains and they are awesome. Much more powder and less ice than you see in Upstate. But it's not like Vail or anything.

Mpd, I'll check that site out. I'm looking at a Base 2000 legacy wagon in massachusetts with 114k, but cruising around on the legacygt.com forums I'm seeing a lot of nicer low mileage ones for sale there- not to mention newer. Only problem is their around 8k. Maybe I should put off the car 6 months and work on saving a couple grand?

can you get a loan with your mom to cosign it? that will show that you are responsible, if you can make the payments. And it will help you build credit. Take your five grand and go to a bank and ask for 8 or 9 grand. you will probably get it as you have more than half that and its not a big loan.

her credit isn't exactly wonderful, and like i said she isn't exactly supportive of me driving. i would ask my sister since she co-signed my debit card but she has too much to deal with.

Meh, I would not suggest being 16 with car payments. At that age you want something that is reliable, but beat up enough you can just buy it outright. It's good to start out with a semi-beater anyways, it makes you appreciate the value of nicer cars later on.
