Default Fucking Netflix

http://blog.netflix.com/2011/09/expl...id=netflixBlog

i got this email..... so i sent them a reply:

Reed Hastings,

screw you. what you are doing is the same thing that Wells Fargo and other banks are currently doing to their customers by adding a monthly fee to checking accounts. Netflix is just another money-grubbing, greedy corporation willing to kick their customers when they are down. Have you idiots taken a look at the American Economy lately?? You think THIS is a fair time to double your rates on an existing product?

Companies like yours are part of the reason that our whole country is fucked. All you care about is profit, and you unethically shaft the customer to boost your profits. I'll keep my streaming subscription for now, but by making this move Netflix forces my hand to find a substitute - just based on the fact that your company feels it is ok to price gouge the customer. If Netflix and Hulu continue to restrict content to only premium paying subscribers, expect the use of torrents to go up up up.

The American consumer is SICK of corporate shitbags passing their costs on to us, only so you can continue to post record profits while the country starves. I hope this decision by Netflix is the beginning of your end. Here's to Netflix becoming the next Napster, MySpace, etc., and I for one will piss on your e-grave.

FUCK YOU MONEY-GRUBBING GREEDY BASTARDS,
Disrespectfully,
Many, Many of Your Customers.

I read the email this morning and felt as though he was looking for sympathy for making a fucked up decision. I cancelled my netflix subscription after reading it, I'll use amazon until netflix gets it shit together. It sucks that the netflix competitors are so far behind but I'll use HBO go on my iphone/ipad and amazon at home because I refused to pay even a few $ per month for a subpar collection of streaming movies a and a company run by a senseless CEO who doesn't know how to properly scale a company.

This does remind me of the whole techcrunch mess if anyone has been following that.

I always had that problem with the DVD plan, good thing they forgive a couple lost dvds a year.

My biggest problem is the fact that with increased competition you would think that if they decided to double the price they could do it alongside an upgrade to the service. The damn iPhone app never works right and cuts off all the time and their online collection is just not good enough. I'm thinking maybe a streaming plan with 1 free dvd a month or something, not sure what they could have done but I know they should have done something.

from where i stand these companies just shouldn't be raising prices in an economic climate like this. its exactly the same as Wells Fargo tacking on a $7-10 monthly fee to checking accounts out of thin air, food companies putting cereal and condiments in smaller packaging but charging the same or more - and all the other stuff that corporations do to nickel and dime the consumer. now is not the fucking time and i am fucking sick of it.
