I have family out there and when I visit I always think about moving there. Just make sure you secure a job BEFORE you move. There is not much industry out there and the locals really frown upon you taking the few jobs available.

job, we're originally from the east coast, so we've done this before. 4 years ago we took a leap of faith and moved to CO. I had a not so great job offer, but it DID provide us with full relocation benefits so we jumped all over it. Free move to CO with only an 18 month commitment from me? Hell yeah! Sign me up! I was out of there in 18 months and two weeks.

We would only do this if one of us could secure a decent job first. There's a position open right now that is tailor made for me, I'm just not sure what the pay would look like.

Moving to Hawaii would be a little different though. She would want to store our stuff here in CO and I'd be pushing to just sell everything. Pretty sure I'd win that battle when she started doing some math on it.

I personally consider Hawaii a great place to visit. Not really interested in living there though. Still, if you want to do it, go for it. Island fever gets to a lot of people, but a lot of others just love it. It's a beautiful place for sure. You can snowboard on some of the volcanoes there too. Earn your turns style.

I've been to hawaii every year of my life, except my 18th and 19th years, like killc. said it's an awesome place to visit but I couldn't live there. longest I was there was for 3 weeks. been to all the major islands. I recommend smoking large amounts of marijuana and surfing everyday. but I honestly HATE the beach...

But I would do it if i were you, fuck it, what do you have to lose?

you can always move back...

Get your pilots license, and do heli tours there. Then when you take a trip to snowboard you can just fly yourself. That'd be suck.

I say go for it man... you would wind up regretting it if you didnt try. You could always fly back to colorado to snowboard for a quick fix once in a while. Just have a plan B, C, and D ready in case it doesnt work for you over there.

You will never come back if you score a gig there. I have been going to all the islands and mostly Kauai for as long as I can remember and my family has a place on Hanalei Bay.

good luck...and Aloha!

LoL I'm in similar situation. Actually, was... wife searched fiercely for a job there after we got back from Oahu. We even looked at houses... puke! So expensive! But man, Hawaii is a great place with great people. And the food!!! THE FOOD!!!

I figure, if we end up moving there, we can always take winter vacations to Japan or West Coast USA.

If you guys can find good careers and affordable housing, go for it. I imagine life there being much less stressful.

My wife and I have to hold our plans to move there because baby #2 is on the way so we will consider it again in a few years. I know you'll miss snowboarding man, but you can take trips. There's also a lot of other things to take your mind off of snowboarding. Lots to do, especially if you're into hiking. Chill on a local beach on the weekend with some good food and beer. Good life.
