We've had some serious discussions in the last few months of just saying fuck it and moving to Hawaii. If that happened, obviously my snowboarding would come to a screeching halt. Surfing would become my new snowboarding. I don't like surfing nowhere near as much as snowboarding, but I do love the atmosphere of the islands, specifically Kauai.
We've started looking for jobs pretty seriously. This actually might happen. We just figure that we're almost 30, but we're not tied down by any kids or mortgage at the moment. If we're going to go out on a limb and do something like this it's pretty much now or never. Both of us would be pursuing graduate degrees online while we lived there if we go through with it. Probably through Colorado State. I would continue to work in marketing while she would probably likely take a job in some type of support role. The plan would be to live there 3-4 years, then probably move back to CO. Have we lost our fucking minds?

Here's the thing about life no one gets out alive. You have to do everything you want to do while you still can. I say fuck it if that's what you guys want to do pack up, head to the islands, and do your thing. No regrets.

I have spent some TDY time at Hickam AFB in Hawaii when my KC-135 was assigned to the 15`th Wing for exercise support. After my tour here at Eielson is up I am putting in for orders to go there. If you have a chance to go there to live, even for a little while I would say jump on it. It truly is paradise....

Look at it this way, in March when everyone is sick of winter and is flying to Hawaii, you can do the opposite and go shred! If I didn't like snowboarding, I would probably be in Hawaii myself...

My $.02 is that Hawaii or wherever, if your thinking about doing something like this now is the time to do it if you plan on having any kids down the road with your lady. I regret not moving to CO when I was 31 and just married with no kids, my company has an office there and I could have moved there no problem, but we didn't b/c we were lazy, life got in the way, didn't want to leave our little safe bubble etc, etc. We just had our first kid last year ( a boy Im fkin stoked ) and now I cannot imagine moving away and be without family support.
Do it before kids man, cuz it will be a lot harder to do afterwards if your family is in CO. You will want to be around them. (im presuming you get along with them
