well, my luck was sure to run out sooner or later...
Just got word that I'm being evicted by the end of the month (lack of roommate, and I can't afford the full rent). My job is officially "letting me go" (cutbacks) as of June, and even though I'd been applying to jobs for the last month, I got no leads... zero. I got two recruiters, and one personal friend that works as a headhunter and still zero hits. sweet. To top it all off, the moneys I got put aside for another out-west boarding trip won't be enough, cuz I have no one to travel with, and going alone is horridly expensive. I'll also have to move home to Mississauga, with my effing PARENTS! (ugh) whom I haven't lived with in 7 years....lol... AND is 30 minutes farther from the job that I'll have to work for the next 3 months, making the commute 1 hour of highway driving each way in dense traffic. I suppose it could be worse though, right?... bah, just needed to vent. fcuk sakes, someone have a drink with me. |

If it makes you feel any better, a good friend of mine, 30, was just diagnosed with stage-3 non-hodgens cancer. He was supposed to start chemo in a few weeks, but when he went in for test results they said "your not going home, chemo starts in 3 hours." I'll tip some St. Ides for both of you.

I hate job hunting SO much, you guys don't understand.... everyone in my frigging industry wants "5-10 years of experience", and all these really really specialized skills, like they want someone to come in and work form day one with zero training... GET-fucking-real!!! Haha, 1/2 the doucebags at my work with 10+ years of experience are more useless than pocket lint. again, sry to hear about ur boy tho man, hope he pulls through... its a different problem, but a struggle all the same. oh and DAve, i dunno man... I'm still talking with ym boy in calgary, but if that falls through either Whistler, Banff or Salt Lake City. Last edited by kri$han; 03-10-2008 at 09:45 PM. |

I actually have to start doing the job search, too. I'm done with law school like 2 months. And am also seeing the "3-5 year experience" requirement everywhere. Should be fun.

In all seriousness, that is no good about the hand you've been dealt. I am sure things will settle-in for you. You know it will, you got the iron ring! If nothing else, start bartending, stripping, or whoring yourself out for a few weeks! Canadian women and French men will be all over it! ![]() As for the Dude with cancer, he's got it worse-off.....no doubt! Unemployment is temporary, but Chemo is a whole new world.

Key reason I avoided Law School......all school no work, and no respect out of the gun! Though, the long-run would be interesting.

i can understand the whole living with parents sucks. all i can say is, i hope you have a car so you can get out of the house for a while.
the only good thing is ... you won't have to cook and clean for a little while. just don't get too use it. ![]() good luck to all of you unfortunate individuals. don't ever give up! |

![]() Anyway, look on the bright side. You've got tons of friends who I'm sure you can spend time with if you need out of the house, and a job will come soon enough. Apply for everything, whether it's over your head or whether you think it's beneath you. Soon enough something will pull through and you'll either be in a better spot than you are now, or have the opportunity to advance quickly. Then you find a small one bedroom place.. even if it's more expensive than sharing with a roomie, it's wayyyyy cheaper than what you're paying now! And think of yourself as lucky, at least your parents live within 30 minutes of where you are now.. a lot of people couldn't say that! Anyway just trying to cheer you up, smile and I promise things will get better! |
