Nothing like having your own cool gadgets. I came across a phone application that reminds me of a James Bond gadget that pretty much everyone should have.
Basically its a phone app called trapster that audibly alerts you when your in an area that has traffic enforcement. The best thing is that its realtime! So anyway, you can download this application and its a community based thing where if your friend sees a speed trap all he has to do is push a button on his phone to assign it via gps so when you drive in that area it will start telling you what type of threat your about to approach. So if you use it with a radar detector your golden! I hope people start doing this more because the more people that contribute the better. More people = less gaps in our electronic counter measures :-p Anyone else know stuff like this???? I wanna know other cool stuff I can download on my phone.

not to sh!t on your parade, but it sounds like two things are wrong with that;
1. If this is a scam, this can get a hold of a LOT of people's phone no.'s and really let the text and call spamming barrade reign on everyone's phones. 2. It really kinda defeats the purpose of traffic enorcement and speed laws.... don't get me wrong, I drive a (somewhatofa) sports car and I love speed, but keep that ish on the track under controlled conditions, man. There are speed laws for a reason... I think the biggest one being that a lot of people are terrible drivers, and just can't handle the speed well. Its fun to drive fast, but safety on the road should be your first priority. If you like speed so much, stop being a nancy and/or a cheap ass and take it to the track. |

i think kri$han looked over the biggest hurdle. for one, Im not going to stop and type out exactly where a speed trap is everytime I see it. thats dumb and I sure hope you dont do it while driving. next how about when you receive it? you gonna stop then too? and do you have to go back and check when they leave? what if its a two hour old notice? so everyone went through all this for nothing?
not a "james bond gadget" either. its not even a gadget.. in fact this is just plain retarded.. |

After a while, you just ignore the alerts or delete the app. About the only thing it's good for is if you're driving in an unfamiliar area and there are a ton of alerts, you can be sure that the cops monitor the stretch of road you're on frequently or there's one paranoid driver who lives in the area. If there's no alerts, there's either no cops or no locals using the app. Just drive and don't waste your time/attention pushing buttons. Last edited by Bones; 03-22-2008 at 10:21 PM. |

I learned to drive in Italy where I grew up...moved here and realized that people doing 80 MPH think they are going fast...on a 4 lane highway? 80 with today's cars is ABSOLUTELY safe. Matter of fact is safer than going 65...at least at 80 you're paying attention to the road. That is what most of the people don't do. Fast to me is beyond 100 MPH...and it makes sense if you can keep that speed for at least 20 /40 min.. Last time I got a ticket for doing 77 on a 65 " Officer..everybody is doing 75 on the freeway..you're giving me a ticket for 77"? he did..asshole.. |
