Why is Drew Carey popular?
I've noticed he's got alot of shows going for him, what makes him so appealing? All see is a round middle aged man with lame jokes and a Live Action Dilbert television show. I like the guy i just don't see what makes him so popular.

No idea. I've never found him to be funny.

You're really asking why american celebrities are popular?
That's a question that will never be answered.... Why is paris hilton popular? the kardashians? lindsay lohan? One will never know. Not that I group drew carey in with those scum sluts, I actually like him a lot on the price is right & whose line is it anyway. He's jolly and seems like a good guy. |
He's non-confrontational, non-threatening and is pretty quick without having an edge. The comedic equivalent of wonder bread, in the same vein as Regis or Pat Sajak.
No network is going to risk any other style of host with all the special interest groups thumping the bible at everything they don't approve of. Monty Hall wouldn't make the cut today and Bob Barker would have been tarred and feathered. |
However he got into show biz I dont know but he should consider himself very lucky. There are funnier dudes hanging out at your local 10 pin bowling alley.

All I can say about this is that he was popular here in Ohio due to where he's from. Since we have a pee-wee football team (THAT DOES NOTHING BUT RUN IT UP THE MIDDLE), a AAA Baseball team and a basketball team that relied on one person (Lebron) we needed someone to carry the torch.
No I'm kidding (somewhat) the Dilbert thing is actually inline. The whole draw to him in my opinion was the office stuff that went on during his show, and that appeals to a lot of people in the mind numbing jobs. I think the American version of Who's Line is it Anyway, was a good show but wouldn't have been what it was without the other guys. |
He's still relevant? His show was mildly funny mainly because of Lewis Stiles and Deidrich Bader.
|
Yeah he's pretty weird but the 'Dumb & Dumber' movie he was in years ago I still find funny.
|
he was the last of the " *Lakes of North America Comedy Legacy" that began most likely way before Laverne and Shirley.
* i made that up* edit, not funny either. |
um...he's not.
He had a failing TV show like 4 times 5-10 years ago. MC'ing the Price is Right doesn't count as popular unless your wearing Depends and strapped to your chair for your own safety. Welcome to earth. |
