It really depends on what kind of car you want. Some of the older models are better than the new ones so it all depends.

That being said I have a new jetta for travel. I bought it new specifically for the warranty and gas mielage. My other four cars are used and run great! If u change the oil in any car regularly that car should last along time. I can get 10+ years out of a used car...Hell my vanagon is 22 years old and runs great! My cougar is 12 and runs great, my Malibu maxx I bought new 3 years ago. Its still under warranty and my brand new Jetta should run well over 200K no problem. My Venture(the one I brought to the meet) is over 11 years old runnin hard at 139k. She may need new wheel bearings soon but again the cost of that in relationship to the extended life of the car is minimal.

If u want trade in value you need to go foreign simple as that.

What do you so many cars for? Men I would not like to pay for your car insurance bill. lol

I can barely pay for my Mazda. I do want to upgrade to a WRX next year as I move out of the safety of the flatlands.

used car

no bullshit drive slow and break in the engine malarky

no rampant depreciation for just driving it off the forecourt

no mass production glitches, like switch knobs and brake hoses coming lose / falling off!

cheaper insurance and if bought from a dealer, you still get warranty, MOT and tax paid

My cousin just got a used car 2 years old I think, but with only 13k miles on it. The car is still under warranty for another 4 years or so. She paid like 13k for it, the original price is like 21k, that is unbelievable how much it depreciated. Its a Mitsubishi galant not my favorite brand, but it still has the warranty.
