Hooligan, Those are Collared Peccaries, also called Javelinas. That photo is from a hunt in Texas last year. And yes, they are a little "gamey".
And btw, Dave is the man! My wife and I got that poster last year when we saw he and Tim Reynolds play at Radio City Music Hall. We're both die hard DMB fanatics. We've got tickets to 4 shows this summer. Just landed reserved tickets in Row 13 for one of them this morning, in fact. Boyd is the reason I got into playing the violin, which I guess you can chalk up as another interest...trying my damndest to learn and keep up with Boyd's fiddle solos. If nothing else, I certainly mow through strings and horsehair. My luthier keeps asking, "What the hell are you doing to this violin?!" I take that as a good sign.
Junglecat, My old neighbor had one of those downhill suspension bikes. It felt utterly weird when I tried it out on flat land, almost tough to make it even "go". But he assured me that cushiony ride is exactly what you want for careening down mountainsides. He used head out for the weekend with a full armament of helmet, shoulder, chest, knee, shin, butt, and elbow pads, so I don't doubt it.
