So I thought I would share with this forum the excitement taking place on the other one that I frequent (although not as much). I began following the thread from its outset on Saturday by Wash, and have been checking it religiously as there have been many twists and turns.
This thread has gone absolutely viral this afternoon, to the point where the site admin had to lock it after about 30 pages were added to it in the last couple hours. This story has humor, heartbreak, heroism, morality, bad guys, good guys and everything in between. There are 2 rescue attempts, including a successful one with pics! 14ers.com - View topic - Dog Found: Mt. Bierstadt! I realize the bitch is TLDR, but its good. Here is a nice little thread made today full of just pictures, they make a fine pair these 2. 14ers.com - View topic - The 14er.com dogs -Does the owner deserve to get their dog back? I say perhaps goldfish would be a better pet for mister Anthony Ortolani. -Despite the many facets of poignant discussion, throughout my reading (post rescue) I was wondering, "not what do the internet jocks and trolls think of this, but what do the actual rescuers think?" I am sure they discussed the dog's future and owner as a group in the long grueling hours they had together on that mountain, and I'm curious as fuck to the content of THAT conversation. Thankfully at least 2 of the rescuers post at the end before Bill locks the thread, and give a fairly good idea as to the conclusions drawn from that discussion. Enjoy.

I saw this story on the news last night. Ridiculous. No Anthony should not get the dog back. He abandoned her. S&R will come out to rescue your pooch at no charge. Even if he feels bad, whatever. It's pretty obvious this guy fails and understanding life.

Actually, I did just read that he contacted Clear Creek search and rescue and they would go try to rescue the dog due to conditions. Sounds a little off to me. I can see that they wouldn't go up at that time, but the next day or day after doesn't seem unreasonable. Weird things with this situation.

i am doing all i can to not call all the phone #s in that thread and go off.
this is the apex of not claiming responsibility, abandonment, negligence.... you sit there for over a week doing NOTHING and then you have the nerve to demand your dog back?? i'd tell him sure, lets meet up and you can take her - and then i'd punch this motherfucker in the face, kick him where his nutsack would have been, and spit in his face. and dude, nothing unusual about S&R not launching a search for a dog.

It actually is unusual for S&R in this state to not launch an operation if the location of the animal is reasonably known. Obviously it was. There have been several dog rescues already this summer. I guess I could ask my friend who is on Clear Creek S&R what happened here.
I agree that he has a lot of nerve demanding for his dog back. |
