This guy, Homie, is attempting to beat the record set in 2000, of climbing all 58 of the 14k' peaks in CO, in under 10 days 20 hours. He just started a couple hours ago...

I don't think its that expensive, not like climbing Denali or Everest. There is no expeditionary type stuff. Its mostly groceries, gas and a couple friends doing driving, camp setup/cooking.
Sure it probably cost a couple g's but yea the rest thing is crazy, I don't think he sleeps more than 4 hours....we'll see its pretty fun to watch it unfold between the blog, tracker, and fans going apeshit on the 14ers thread. It seems people from his group are posting there as well.

Thats why I don't plan to do Everest. I think I "might" be able to make it, I just don't have 50-75k lol. I do hope to do Denali/Mt Mckinley someday though since its 9,000' shorter and only $5-8k. I'm going to do all the 14er's too just over the course of 50 years or so. Already have 8 done

Yeah because it starts out so low in elevation. I'm not worried about the cold, I have a thyroid problem that makes me run hotter so 30 degrees to someone else feels like 50 to me. Thats why I had to move up to the mountains and away from Denver (that and the asshat drivers). Also the hiking part ain't bad, I go on 3-6 miles hikes almost every other day in the summer. The part I would be worried about is the elevation. I can take a 14'er like a champ, but 20k ? Holy shit, thats more then a mile higher!
-Btw, did you happen to go Chatfield, Dakota Ridge, or Columbine? If so what year? Last edited by budderbear; 08-23-2012 at 01:22 PM. |

That's nuts, what a feat though for sure. Not trying to thread jack but hey budderbear, what hs did you go to? I went to Dakota ridge myself, class of '07.
