R.I.P. Amanda Todd
 

This last Wednesday, after posting this youtube video, 15-year-old Amanda Todd committed suicide because of ongoing bullying. For me this is local news - I jog past her school regularly - and my daughter is about the same age.

For those of you who have kids, you have to be aware of this shit. It's way worse than it was when we were kids. I'd like to believe this'll be the last one like this.

She made one or 2 bad mistakes and it cost her life in the end. Its sad to think that this was a chain reaction starting with a mistake any young girl could make.

The worst part is the fucking sicko wouldnt leave her alone when she moved and tried to start her life over. Imagine going to a new school trying to start over only to have your reputation ruined right of the bat by some stalker.... fucking scum.

If we can learn anything from this its to try and make people who get treated like this and make them feel like someone does care. If your a kid in highschool go talk to that lonely boy or girl sitting in the back of class by themselves. You know that ugly girl people call fat? or that boy with the long hair who plays video games all the time and no one talks to? yeah them
If youre a bully you should learn to take your own self hatred and insecurities out in better ways than making other people hate themselves.

Tragic that you dont know what she could have done with her life once she got out of school because most likely it would have gotten better with time. She was still growing

Its too bad the media only seems to share this stuff if its some good looking girl or some touching story like that though..
I also have to admit I did a bit of bullying myself in school but luckily realized that was stupid and it tapered off by the middle of highschool. Even hung out a few times with a kid that i used to pick on.

This was on my Facebook this morning.

She lived in my town.

I didn't know her but she looked so sweet & innocent. Watching her face as she pulled those cards, was fucking heartbreaking.

That video fucked me up for most of the morning.

I live in a pretty red neck town, we don't shoot each other here, but we sure love a good throw down.

If that guys name ever becomes public, I can pretty much guarantee he will be one fucked up cripple, if he's lucky enough to live.

I can only pray that they figure it out & release it.

So sad, kids mess up all the time but should have a support framework. I blame the parents and authorities more then anyone in this.

I second that. Also, it says she suddenly got diagnosed with a series of mental/emotinal disorders due to the first event. What people don't understand is the medications that you're put on both create a dependance and also have a greater side effect of emotional instability and suicidal behavior.

I haven't seen a single person who's been placed on psychiatric medications and has made full recovery. Some prescription drugs are worse that illegal street drug IMO. Or, maybe just equally as dangerous.

some of the best things are to make sure a middle school kid has self confidence, self respect, self worth and self efficacy...supportive parents/adults

Really painful to see someone give up on all of the possibilities life has to offer and not think anyone actually gives a fuck about his/her life when there are people that do. Shame on the parents for taking a half-assed approach to their daughters life. I'd happily give my life for my family after I've exhausted all other possibilities; my life doesn't mean shit if I can't protect the ones I love especially the child I helped create.

I always feel like shit when I here about these kids reaching out and I never do a thing because I don't hear about it until it's too late. I'd happily offer my time to talk and let them know a complete stranger really cares about their existence. The world is worse off because that girl will never exist again...RIP

Deeply saddened by the horrible mental torture and isolation the kid went through, not to mention the loss of life.
