Yeah the R1 had a very linear power band, it was actually pretty easy to loft the front end on the track, and I wouldn't consider myself a good rider.

I'm a Yamaha guy through and through, only non-Yammi's I'd consider would be a Honda RC51 for the cool factor, or a KTM RC8.

I think the Yamaha FZ8 or FZ1 would be a fantastic touring/sport bike.

So many bikes, so little summer...

Yeah that's pretty cool! I'm more of a Yamaha guy though so if I got an old school bike it'd have to be an FZR400!

OR the RZ350, they're pretty cool but not so sure about owning a 20 year old two stroke bike...

Usually the fastest way to get a woman to avoid something is to say it is perfect for them. I've never seen a woman riding a "small" bike.

By the way. Honda has a new 500cc fuel injected bike that comes in 3 styles coming in 2013. Perfect beginner bike or commuter that won't get boring anytime soon. I'm pretty much set on an sv650 but I might go for the Honda 500 if I like the reviews.

Just thought I would follow up on what happened with my bike purchase.

I got an SV 650 in the end. 2005 with low kms. It went right into storage as it is very much deep winter here. Cant wait till April to get her out on the road!

I have never owned a crotch rocket, mainly because I know people drive like assholes. I have almost been side swiped so many times, driving a f350 crew cab truck, by women on their phones " usually always women ". I would hate to have that shit happen on a bike.
