I'm currently in the market for an AWD vehicle also that is good on gas. The new Subaru VX Crosstrek caught my eye and I have been looking into that. I'm so sick of my current gas guzzler. Might be worth checking out since you enjoy your Subaru.

This is not entirely true. Yes, they can be very problematic if not maintained properly. I have owned 3 BMWs for about a total of 8 years and with proper scheduled maintenance they have been very reliable. They are not at all impossible to work on. There is a wealth of knowledge for doing repairs online and repair manuals are easy to get. If you know where to look (online), you can buy non-BMW branded parts from the OEM manufacturers at great prices. So if you don't maintain them properly they are not reliable. If you take them to the dealership for service they will be expensive. If you buy parts from the dealership it will be really expensive. If you stay away from the dealer and are religious with maintenance the opposite of all of these can be true.

Lol thx "bimmer" man
![]() Totally agree with you though, they're not that bad at all-- I'm not mechanically inclined and I rebuilt an e30 bottom up with S52 motor, suspension brakes etc with little difficulty... If anything the awd systems of Subaru and the like are much more complicated than the simplistic BMW awd, especially on the e46s |
