I live in Northern NJ. We didn't get it too bad as some did, but the winds did some big damage. Friend of friend was killed in his living room. A tree came down on the roof and drove him and his wife through the floor boards. He didn't make it, but his wife did.
A friend lost his house in Brooklyn, washed right off of its foundation. Luckily, another friend took him and his family in and they are safe. My brother's company was destroyed and now he has no job. He got laid off after spending three days helping clean up the office. So if anyone needs a google certified adwords/ppc employee... Definitely wasn't as bad as Katrina, but tell that to the people that have lost a loved one or all of their possessions.... |

I see there's still no power for 84k people in the NY/NJ area. 3 weeks is a horribly long time to be without power.
Been there: growing up near the gulf coast (where there's exponentially more road blocking trees to break) there were hurricanes that kept us without power for months. Some may say "that's what generators are for", but try jumping over a huge snapped pine tree every 10 feet while walking several miles to a gas station...or, if you didn't already own a generator, lugging one back from the hardware store (if they even had any). As well as those who buy into MSNBC and all the others, Journalism as a whole is dead and an embarrassment. Both sides have their pundits and outlets with the only goal being to sell as much advertising as possible to a certain demographgic. Its all about the money, truth, facts and telling both sides of a story fairly are an inconvenience.
